TVs and monitors have very specific resolutions, frame rates, and other capabilities. If the display receives a signal it does not support, it will may not show a video signal, or it may flicker.
Elgato capture cards use the EDID of a display to learn the display's capabilities and merge the capabilities of the capture card to ensure the signal can be captured and displayed.
In some rare cases, this may not work correctly, and the display can receive a signal it does not support.

Problem May Occur When 120Hz or VRR is Active
This issue usually occurs after launching a game when 120Hz or VRR becomes active. Often these issues do not appear when on the game console's home screen.
The steps below can help resolve flickering or no signal issues when using a capture card.
Please try these steps in this order:
- Disable Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
- Disable High Refresh Rate (120Hz) output
- Reduce Output resolution
Disable Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
PlayStation 5
- From the PlayStation 5 home screen, go to Settings > Screen and Video.

Select Video Output.
- Set VRR from automatic to off.
- Restart your game.
Xbox One S / One X / Series X / Series X
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- then go to Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options > Video Modes.
- Uncheck Allow Variable Refresh Rate.
- Restart your game.
Disable High Refresh Rate (120Hz) Output
PlayStation 5
- From the PlayStation 5 home screen, go to Settings > Screen and Video.

Select Video Output.
- Set Enable 120 Hz Output from automatic to off.
- Restart your game.
Xbox One S / One X / Series X / Series X
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- then go to Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options > General
- In the refresh rate dropdown menu, select 60Hz.
- Restart your game.
Reduce Output Resolution
PlayStation 5
- From the PlayStation 5 home screen, go to Settings > Screen and Video.

Select Video Output.
- Select Resolution and choose a lower resolution, such as 1080p.
- Restart your game.
Xbox One S / One X / Series X / Series X
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- then go to Profile & system > Settings > General > TV & display options > General
- Select Resolution and choose a lower resolution, such as 1080p.
- Restart your game.
