If you are having Video problems with your Elgato Capture device, please try these steps:
- System Screen. Try turning HDR on, and off. Depending on your computer and displays, things may work better with HDR off.
-
TV Resolution. There are 5 options. Try selecting a manual resolution, instead of Automatic.
- 720p (HD)
- 1080p (Full HD)
- 1440p (WQHD)
- 2160p (4K)
-
120 Hz Output. This output may not work with your setup. Turn it on and off to see what works best.
Turn this on to enable a higher refresh rate, if both your TV and the software support it. Please note: this feature only works at 1080p and 1440p resolutions. The HOME Menu and System Settings do not support 120 Hz.
-
HDR Output. There are 3 options. Try turning HDR off to see if that works best for you.
Note that the TV, capture device and computer also needs to support HDR display, if you turn HDR on.
- Match TV Power State - Turn off to see if this helps.
- Auto Low-Latency Mode. Turn off to see if this helps.
Nintendo has published an article entitled - How to Adjust the Audio Settings on Nintendo Switch 2

There is a way to power cycle the Switch 2 console. This may help with various issues.
- Remove Switch 2 from the Dock
- Hold the power button, and select "Turn Off" (Not "Restart")
- Leave it off for 60 seconds or so
- While it is off, put the Switch 2 in the Dock again, with the Capture Device attached to the Dock via HDMI
- Turn the Switch 2 on while connected to the Dock
Nintendo has published an article entitled - How to Connect a Nintendo Switch 2 Console to a TV
The Switch 2 comes with an HDMI cable. Please make sure to try that include cable with your setup.
If that cable doesn't seem to be working, try a replacement HDMI cable that meets the appropriate standards.
Make sure that you are connecting your Elgato Capture device to the Switch 2 Dock via HDMI, and not to the USB-C port on the Switch 2.
4K Capture Utility and Elgato Studio software both have controls that can change the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data).
You can try all options in the Settings, to see what works best for you. For example, you can try Display or Internal, and then test things again.
