Advanced Settings for Mac
To show the Advanced Settings on the Mac, hold down the Option key on the keyboard, while you press the Settings button in the Device section of Elgato Game Capture HD.
The Settings button has a hammer and wrench icon on it.
The Advanced Settings window for the Mac offers one option:
TV Compatibility - Adjust this slider if you are using 1080p, and your HDMI or Component video connection to the TV or monitor you use for gameplay occasionally goes blank, or shows strange colors or interference patterns. In this case, the captured picture will look okay.
To use this slider, move it one step at a time. Then, test the video connection again for 10-15 minutes, to see if the problem goes away.
The vast majority of TV sets and Displays will not need to be adjusted in this way, but if yours does, the "correct" number on the slider will vary, depending on what TV or Display you're using.
Advanced Settings for Windows
To show the Advanced Settings in Windows, press the Settings button in the Device section of Elgato Game Capture HD.
The Settings button has a hammer and wrench icon on it.
The Advanced Settings window for Windows offers two main options:
1) Component Compatibility - Adjust this slider if your Component video connection, for instance from a PlayStation 3, occasionally flashes a black screen or is not complete.
2) TV Compatibility - Adjust this slider if you are using 1080p, and your HDMI or Component video connection to the TV or monitor you use for gameplay occasionally goes blank, or shows strange colors or interference patterns. In this case, the captured picture will look okay.
To use these sliders, move them one step at a time. Then, test the video connection again for 10-15 minutes, to see if the problem goes away.
The vast majority of TV sets and Displays will not need to be adjusted in this way, but if yours does, the "correct" number on the slider will vary, depending on what TV or Display you're using.
If you make an incorrect choice using Component Compatibility and TV Compability sliders, you can always go back to the original settings by using the Reset Defaults button.
