These troubleshooting steps can be followed to resolve issues with audio sounding distorted or cracking when using Wave Link.
Crackling and/or other audio distortion will generally occur when the buffer size of Wave Link is set too low. This means Wave Link does not have enough time to properly process the audio coming in from audio sources or going out to headphones via the monitor mix.

Buffer Size Values
These are the corresponding buffer size values, in milliseconds.
- Very Small - 20msec
- Small (Default) - 30msec
- Medium - 60msec
- Large - 100msec
- Very Large - 180msec
Adjusting Wave Link Input Buffer Time
The input buffer time can be adjusted if audio is distorted from inputs into Wave Link such as other microphones or capture devices.
1) Open Wave Link.
2) Navigate to the preferences cogwheel near the top right of Wave Link.
3) In Preferences, navigate to the Advanced tab.
3) Select a larger input buffer. For example, if it is currently set to Very Small, set it to Small (Default).
4) Now quit and restart Wave Link for the new buffer size to take effect.
Adjusting Wave Link Output Buffer Time
The output buffer time can be adjusted if audio going to headphones through the Monitor mix is distorted.
1) Open Wave Link.
2) Press and hold the CTRL key on your keyboard, and at the same time click on the preferences cogwheel at the top. right of Wave Link.
3) In the preferences navigate to the Advanced tab.
3) Select a larger output buffer. For example, if it is currently set to Very Small, set it to Small (Default).
4) Now quit and restart Wave Link for the new buffer size to take effect.
