Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) is available for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Xbox 360.
For both platforms, the native resolution of the game is 720p.
If you are playing GTA 5 on your PS3, then make sure that you've selected 720p resolution via your PS3 Video Output Settings, to get the best quality video output.
Always select all possible resolutions when using the PS3
To use the PlayStation 3 (PS3) with Elgato Game Capture HD, you need to set your PS3 to Component / D-Terminal output.

Always select all possible resolutions when using the PS3
To use the PlayStation 3 (PS3) with Elgato Game Capture HD, you need to set your PS3 to Component / D-Terminal output.
Make sure you select all possible resolutions that your TV can handle. For example, if your TV can use 1080p signals, select 1080p, 1080i, 720p and 480p.
If you select all possible resolutions, then the PS3 can properly negotiate with your TV, to find the highest resolution that each game supports.
It will then automatically select 720p for Grand Theft Auto 5.
Otherwise, if you only select a few resolutions, like just 1080p and 480p (skipping 720p), then any 720p game will be forced to use the next lowest resolution (480p in this case). That means your 720p games will not be captured in HD.
To avoid this issue, check every box that can possibly work with your TV, and the PS3 will take care of the rest.
