In February of 2014, Microsoft released an update for the Xbox One.
This update can cause the Xbox One's screen to go black, after you press the Xbox Button on the controller.
The screen may stay that way until you power cycle the console.
You can hold down the Xbox One's power button for 10 seconds to resolve the issue, at least temporarily.
This issue is not caused by Elgato Game Capture HD.
