What’s new in Capture Device Utility 1.1?
This update adds more configuration settings for your Elgato capture card.
🆕HDMI Color range
Switch between different HDMI color range signaling modes for video.
-
Bypass: Sends unmodified video from the source to the application.
-
Shrink: Regardless of the input signal, captured video is converted to 16-235 range (Limited).
-
Expand: Regardless of the input signal, captured video is converted to 0-255 range (Full).
Note: We recommend leaving HDMI color range mode on Bypass.
🆕 Input EDID Mode
You can now change the EDID mode of your capture device when supported. Learn more about EDID modes here.
🆕 USB Transfer Mode
USB devices have two transfer mode types: bulk is used for mass storage devices like an external USB hard drive, and isochronous is used for real-time devices like a USB webcam or capture card.
Unless your device is experiencing issues, we suggest not changing this setting from its default.
🆕 HDR Tonemapping
You can now toggle hardware tonemapping, which converts HDR to SDR on your device before sending it to your computer. This process is effective in most cases.
Disable this setting to capture HDR video in applications like OBS Studio.
