Can I use Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Dock to charge my PC laptop?

The following article is for a product that is now considered Legacy (EOL) status. Because of this, the information below may not match what is possible with current Elgato hardware and software.

Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Dock is designed to charge a MacBook Pro through the same Thunderbolt cable used to connect it to a MacBook Pro.

It can provide up to 85 W of power to a MacBook Pro, using the Thunderbolt 3 port that's next to the DisplayPort.

This is a MacBook Pro specific feature.  

Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Dock is not designed to charge the wide variety of Thunderbolt 3 equipped PC laptops that are available, each of which has different power needs.  If you try to use it to charge your Windows PC, Elgato cannot guarantee that it will work as expected.  Thus, we only support the use of a MacBook Pro.
