The Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Pro Dock and Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Dock are similar, but there are some important differences:
Types of Thunderbolt 3 Ports
Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Pro Dock has the following Thunderbolt 3 ports:
2x Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.
Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Dock has the following Thunderbolt 3 ports:
2x Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.
For both Docks, use the Thunderbolt 3 port next to the DisplayPort, to connect to your computer. That is the Computer Charging port (up to 85 W). The other port provides less power (up to 15 W).

Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Pro Dock has the following USB ports:
2x Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.
2x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C connector (10Gb/s, 1.5A, USB Battery Charging 1.2 & UASP)
2x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A connector (5 Gb/s, 1.5 A, USB Battery Charging 1.2 & UASP)
Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Dock has the following USB ports:
2x Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.
3x USB 3.0 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s, 1.5 A, USB Battery Charging 1.2 & UASP)
SD Card Slot
Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Pro Dock has two SD Card slots.
- SD card reader (UHS-II)
- micro SD card reader (UHS-II)
Elgato Thunderbolt™ 3 Dock has no SD card slots.
