If you receive the message "Could Not Be Initialized" on Windows when trying to use Elgato Video Capture, then there are some steps you can take that may help resolve the issue.
Change the Graphics Processor Codec
If you are using an Intel Processor that is 12th Gen or Higher, then please try the following steps
1. Close Elgato Video Capture Software completely.
2. Download the VCPatcher tool: https://edge.elgato.com/egc/windows/drivers/vc/VCPatchwer.exe
3. Open the tool and select "Yes" if prompted by Windows.
4. In the Window that appears, check the box for "Intel GPU workaround".
5. Click Next and then click the close button.
6. Launch and test Elgato Video Capture Software again.
If the YUY2 change helped, do not continue troubleshooting - you are done.
Change the Signal Detection
1. Close the Elgato Video Capture application via the system tray.
2. Download and open the VCPatcher if you did not already: https://edge.elgato.com/egc/windows/drivers/vc/VCPatchwer.exe
3. Select "Yes" if prompted by Windows.
4. Change the dropdown from Auto to NTSC. Other options can be selected depending on what format your tapes and player are using.
6. Click Next and then click Close.
7. Launch and test Elgato Video Capture again.
