This guide will cover how to setup 4K Pro with your desktop.
System Requirements
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit (or higher)
- CPU: 8th generation Intel Core i5 CPU (i5-8xxx) / AMD Ryzen 5 (3600) or better
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10xx (or better)
- Slot: PCIe x4/x8/x16 slot size
- PCIe Generation: 2.0
- Available PCIe bandwidth: x4 lanes

Install 4K Pro into your PC
- Power off your PC and unplug it.
- Open your PC case.
- Locate an available PCIe x4 slot (or higher) on your motherboard.
- Carefully insert Game Capture 4K Pro into the slot.
- Secure it with a screw if needed.
- Close the PC case and reconnect power.
Connect your devices
- Use an HDMI cable to connect your unencrypted HDMI source (like a gaming PC or console) to the HDMI IN port on 4K Pro.
- Connect another HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on 4K Pro to your monitor or TV.
Note: Game Capture 4K Pro can only capture unencrypted HDMI signals. Content protected by HDCP (e.g., streaming devices, some consoles) will not display.
Software
Download and install Elgato Studio Software from elgato.com/downloads.
Note: OBS Studio or similar applications can also be used with 4K Pro.
Troubleshooting tips
- Make sure your HDMI source is unencrypted (HDCP must be disabled).
- Ensure HDMI cables are fully inserted.
- Use HDMI 2.0 cables or higher for 4K60 support.
- Update your PC’s graphics drivers.
