If you're using 4K X and want to capture ultrawide formats, you'll need to use an application such as OBS Studio, StreamLabs Desktop, etc. 4K Capture Utility doesn't support ultra-wide formats, but these applications have got you covered. Follow these steps to get started with OBS Studio.

Install 4K X latest firmware
To install the latest firmware, follow these steps:

Download 4K Capture Utility 1.7.13 or newer.

Select the cog wheel on the top right.

Look for the Device tab.

An update firmware option will be available.

Update to Firmware 24.05.20 or newer
Download and install OBS Studio
1) Head over to the OBS Studio website.
2) Download the right version for your operating system.
3) Follow the installation instructions to set up OBS Studio on your computer.
Set up canvas resolution
1) Open OBS Studio.
2) Click on Settings in the bottom-right corner.
3) Go to the Video tab.
4) Set both "Base (Canvas) Resolution" and "Output (Scaled) Resolution" to match your ultra-wide resolution (e.g., 3440x1440).
5) Hit OK to save the changes.
Setting up 4K X and ultrawide resolution in OBS Studio
1) In OBS Studio, click on the + icon under the "Sources" panel.
2) Select Video Capture Device.
3) Name your source and click OK.
4) In the "Device" dropdown, select 4K X.
5) Under Resolution/FPS Type, select Custom
6) Select your ultrawide resolution and press OK.
