This guide will cover how to use Prompter's Text mode. Elgato Prompter is integrated with the Camera Hub software, which provides three modes - Display, Text, and Chat.
Text mode gives you a traditional teleprompter feed. It can also store scripts, adjust font appearance, scrolling speed, and provide an overlay to keep your eyes centered on the camera.

Requirements
Below are the requirements to use Prompter's Text mode.
- Elgato Prompter
- Camera Hub 1.9 or later installed from elgato.com
How to set up text mode
- Open Camera Hub and select Prompter near the top left.
- Select Text in the Content section.
- Now, it is time to add a script. Click on the plus icon (+) and enter a script name.
- You can add multiple scripts to switch between them quickly.
Adjusting Prompter's font settings
You can change the script's font setting in the Appearance section, including text size, background color, font, margin, spacing, and more.
- Font: Choose a font type for your script.
- Font Size: Select a suitable text size for readability.
- Horizontal Margin: Adjust text alignment horizontally.
- Vertical Margin: Adjust text alignment vertically.
- Line Spacing: Set the space between lines to your preference.
- Text Color: Pick a color for the script text.
- Background: Choose a background color for the Prompter's display.
- Opacity: Modify Prompter's opacity, which is useful for overlaying scripts over applications.
Adjusting Prompter's text editor font size
The slider near the bottom can be used to change the text editor font size. This does not affect the font size on Prompter.
Adjusting Prompter's scrolling settings
Control how your script scrolls during use under the Scrolling section.
- Auto-scroll Chapter: You can enable or disable your script's automatic scrolling. When enabled, Prompter will automatically return to the top of the script.
- Scroll Speed: Adjust the auto-scrolling speed to match your speaking rate.
- Auto-loop: You can cycle through the script continuously, which is helpful for practice sessions or if you need to deliver the same message repeatedly.
Adjusting Prompter's Overlay
Prompter's Overlays helps keep your eyes centered on the camera. Here’s how to customize the overlay to suit your style:
- Show Overlay: Activate or deactivate the overlay function. When enabled, the selected pointer will appear on the screen.
- Pointer: Choose between different pointer styles to guide your focus.
- Color: Select the color of your pointer for optimal visibility. You can choose a color that stands out against your script's background, ensuring it captures your attention as you read.
- Position: You can fine-tune the position of the overlay on your screen. This setting allows you to align the pointer with your natural eye line to the camera.
Adding Custom Overlays
- Prepare Your .SVG File: Create or download a .svg file that suits your style and needs.
- Import Custom Pointer: Select the plus icon to add an overlay. Select your .svg file.
Voice dictation
The lower-right corner of Camera Hub contains a voice dictation tool. Click the microphone icon to activate voice dictation and begin speaking.
Note: If voice dictation isn’t working for Windows, ensure Apps have permission to access your microphone:
