Elgato Game Capture software has a Settings section, which allows users to adjust how the hardware behaves.
There is also a hidden, Advanced Settings mode that can help you Update Firmware.
The firmware update option was only rarely needed for the first generation of the Elgato Game Capture HD hardware, which came out a few years ago.
Firmware updating is generally not needed anymore for any currently sold Elgato device. They usually already have the latest firmware.
DO NOT update firmware for the following products at any time, unless Elgato Technical Support tells you to do so for specific troubleshooting purposes:
Elgato Game Capture HD60
Elgato Game Capture HD60 S
Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+
Elgato Game Capture HD60 X
Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro
Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro
Elgato Game Capture 4K60 Pro MK.2
Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+
Elgato Cam Link
Elgato Cam Link 4K
Elgato Cam Link Pro
In rare cases, a firmware update can actually harm the Elgato hardware. This is why it should always be done under the supervision of Elgato Support, under very specific circumstances.
